Leaders

Our true selves are connected, clear, calm, curious, confident, compassionate, creative, courageous and eager to embrace life and manifest our full potential to lead.

The somatic leadership coaching partnership is designed to support you in your transformation so that you may discover who you are as a leader and how you want to be in the world.

I offer wisdom, skills and perspectives so that clients may: identify their core values, articulate their vision, bring inner and outer worlds into alignment, set goals to feel passionate about, create space for growth, and ultimately step more fully into embodied leadership.

I offer several pathways to alignment. Each pathway engages clients to deepen self-connection with their wisdom, emotions, creativity and resourcefulness. I integrate several techniques into my coaching. Some of these techniques include Somatic Experiencing®, Embracing the Shadow (based on Carl Jung and the Internal Family Systems by Richard Schwartz), active imagination, and mindfulness practice (based on Insight Meditation). We have many parts (internal voices) that compete for attention—parts that tend to shut down creativity, possibility, access to emotions, and action. These internal voices are waiting to be identified and befriended. Also, along the pathway we will raise racial consciousness, identify and unlearn internalized racism, and practice anti-racism.

As we work with the body awareness, intuition, the nervous system, limiting beliefs, old patterns and inner critics, I can offer skills that move you toward radical inclusivity and self-acceptance. The somatic leadership coaching process supports awareness and compassion, which may lead clients to deeper confidence about their direction, choices and action. My approach not only supports transforming the relationship to our mind, body, and sense of self but also our physical experience in the world.

However, coaching is not therapy. I work with leaders who have either engaged in therapy, are currently in therapy, or have devoted time to personal growth and addressing early childhood or traumatic experiences. Often coaching will help the client see with clarity an area that needs further tending with another practitioner. If that is the case, we will discuss it and the best path forward.

The coaching partnership is based on these core principles:

  • People are whole and simultaneously moving toward a fuller expression of their wholeness.
  • There is deep wisdom within our bodies and nervous system.
  • People are inherently resourceful and wise.
  • Honoring the full diversity of experience expands awareness.
  • People have the freedom to choose how they respond.
  • Much more is possible than any of us can imagine.
  • Once you start approaching your body with curiosity everything begins to shift.

During the coaching process, we meet every other week for a set number of sessions — by phone or video chat. We may also communicate by phone and email. In addition to our scheduled meetings, we will craft “homework” and accountability for the time in between sessions.

Your vision will become clear only when you look into your heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakens.  –Carl Jung
